About Forte · Tokyo, Japan · Founded 1987
A Japanese company,
founded in Tokyo in 1987.
One of the few domestic houses with a long, established record of professional translation and English editing for physicians, scientists, researchers and engineers — from graduate students to Nobel Prize–winning scholars.
Takumi — the craftsman’s standard
Checked the way Japan checks things.
Two independent human passes on every document: a subject-matter STEM editor, then a senior reviewer. Nothing ships on one pair of eyes.

Who we are
Independent, certified,
and headquartered in Japan
Because FORTE is not affiliated with any academic journal or publisher, our editorial decisions remain completely independent and free from any conflicts of interest. None of our recommendations are influenced by financial or other relationships. And because we are headquartered in Japan, we understand the needs of clients working across languages and cultures, and provide services that reflect their real-world needs.
Forte holds the P-Mark, the Japanese certification for a Personal Information Protection Management System, demonstrating that we meet national standards for safeguarding personal information. Your research data and personal details are protected with the highest level of care.
In addition to secure data handling, we operate a comprehensive ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. This enables us to continually improve the quality of both our deliverables and our services, and it is one of the core systems supporting Forte’s long-term reliability.
For nearly 40 years, FORTE has supported researchers in sharing their work with the world. We take pride in translation and editing services that are second to none, and we remain committed to our mission of helping researchers, in Japan and around the world, communicate their research clearly and effectively to a global audience.

On AI-assisted work
“As the translation and editing landscape evolves, we use new tools responsibly, including AI-assisted workflows. However, every document is always reviewed by real human experts, guaranteed—reflecting our commitment to quality that only human review can provide. AI is used only as a support tool; final judgment, corrections and improvements are always made by professional editors with subject-matter expertise.”
